“Vim Lady Unfazed by Prophet Opambour’s Curses”

Renowned Ghanaian broadcast journalist Afia Pokuaa, commonly known as Vim Lady, has asserted that Prophet Ebenezer Opambour Yiadom, often referred to as Prophet 1, cannot intimidate her with curses for expressing her views. In a video shared on social media, she emphasized that she remains undeterred by any curses he may invoke, insisting that they will not impact her.

“I have been doing this work for the past twenty years, and I am not scared of anything. President Kufuor’s bodyguards have beaten us before, and we survived. So he (Opambour) should keep quiet. You went there to ask a legitimate question and didn’t condemn anything about the Ghana Card, so why are you fighting me over this? Where I come from, we have strong spiritual backgrounds, so you can’t threaten me,” she stated.

Afia Pokuaa also expressed her support for John Mahama’s proposed policy of free first-year tertiary education, highlighting her preference for education-focused policies over the ex-gratia payments for Members of Parliament. “I have said this many times about free SHS (Senior High School)—anyone who condemns it is shallow-minded. When Mahama proposed free first-year tertiary education, I supported it because I do not back the ex-gratia payments for MPs,” she added.

On November 11, 2024, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, held a fellowship service with clergymen in Kumasi. During this event, Prophet Opambour raised concerns about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s policy, which suggests using the Ghana Card as the basis for a credit-scoring system to enable citizens to purchase cars. He mocked the initiative, questioning its feasibility and expressing doubts about the use of the Ghana Card for such purposes.

In response, Afia Pokuaa criticized Opambour as “shallow-minded,” implying that he misunderstood the project. Subsequently, Prophet 1 warned Afia Pokuaa that he would resort to curses if she continued to speak out against him.
