In a heartfelt message, the Vice President acknowledged the victory of John Dramani Mahama from the NDC, stating that his decision to concede before the Electoral Commission’s official announcement was meant to foster peace and uphold Ghana’s democratic integrity.

Dr. Bawumia remarked, “I called President Mahama and congratulated him. Ghana is more important than our individual political ambitions.” He emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the people and expressed hope for a brighter future. He also acknowledged the NDC’s strong performance in the parliamentary elections, describing their victory as “hands down.” Dr. Bawumia urged Ghanaians to prioritize national unity and interests over partisanship.

The elections, held on December 7, were marred by reports of violence, which led to at least two fatalities and several injuries. Nonetheless, Dr. Bawumia’s concession has been widely praised as a critical step in maintaining peace and stability during this pivotal moment in Ghana’s democracy.
