Kumasi Traders and NPP Delegates Throw Support Behind Dr. Adutwum’s Flagbearer Bid

In a significant display of grassroots momentum, hundreds of traders and New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates at the Kumasi Railways Market have declared their strong support for Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum in his quest to become the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.

The group, which includes market leaders and loyal NPP grassroots members, cited Dr. Adutwum’s visionary leadership and his impressive tenure as Education Minister as key reasons for their endorsement.

Speaking to the media on Monday, June 23, 2025, David Osei Kuffour, a leading figure among the traders and an executive of the Ashanti Second-Hand Shoe Sellers Association, praised Dr. Adutwum’s transformative impact on Ghana’s education sector.

He described Dr. Adutwum as a unifying figure who resonates with both the grassroots and party leadership, noting that these qualities are crucial for the NPP’s future success.

“Dr. Adutwum is not just a reformer—he is a bridge-builder. He understands the everyday struggles of Ghanaians and has the vision to lead the party and the country forward,” Mr. Kuffour stated.

According to the group, the NPP must rally behind a candidate who can unite its ranks and appeal broadly to the Ghanaian electorate.

“We are ready to campaign tirelessly to ensure Dr. Adutwum secures the nomination. The future of the NPP and Ghana hinges on choosing the right leader, and that leader is Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum,” Mr. Kuffour emphasized.

With growing grassroots backing and rising endorsements, Dr. Adutwum is emerging as a strong contender in the NPP’s internal race toward the 2028 presidential election.
