Jealous Rage in Sowutuom: Woman Burns Ex-Boyfriend’s Kiosk and Stabs Him Over Another Woman

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old unemployed woman, Augustina Adoma, for allegedly setting fire to her ex-boyfriend’s kiosk and stabbing him in the chest during a heated confrontation in Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.

According to police reports, Adoma, who was previously in a relationship with the victim, Emmanuel Otabil, a 30-year-old driver, visited his home uninvited around 9:00 a.m. and found him with another woman. In a fit of rage, she allegedly poured water on the pair and took Otabil’s Samsung phone.

Later that afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., while Otabil was away, Adoma reportedly returned to his premises using a duplicate key. She entered his kiosk and set fire to several of his belongings, including a mattress, blankets, and bed sheets.

That evening, Otabil confronted her about the damage and demanded the return of his phone. During the argument, Adoma allegedly grabbed a knife from a nearby orange seller and stabbed him in the left side of his chest.

Otabil was initially taken to Race Course Hospital, then transferred to Lapaz Community Hospital, and later to the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.

Adoma was arrested at the Tesano Police Station, where she had gone to file a separate assault complaint. The victim’s stolen phone was recovered from her during the arrest.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng of the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, the police urged the public to avoid revenge or violence in personal disputes and instead resolve issues peacefully through legal channels. The case is still under investigation.
