“Prophet Kumchacha Says He Would Choose Watching ‘Adult Content’ Over Black Stars Match”

Controversial Ghanaian pastor Prophet Kumchacha has publicly criticized the Black Stars following their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). During an interview with Okatakyie Afrifa on Accra-based Angel FM on November 19, 2024, Kumchacha expressed his disinterest in watching Ghana’s national football team due to their poor performances. He bluntly stated, “I’d rather watch pornography than watch a Black Stars match.”

This provocative comment came after the team lost 2-1 to Niger on November 1

8, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, which resulted in their failure to qualify for AFCON 2025. Kumchacha’s remarks reflect the frustrations of many Ghanaians who have criticized the team and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their disappointing performance in the qualifiers. Once a dominant force in African football, Ghana—four-time AFCON champions—finished last in Group F without a single victory in the qualifiers.

Kumchacha’s statement has sparked mixed reactions; some sympathize with his frustration, while others find the comparison inappropriate. Meanwhile, there are growing calls for a complete overhaul of Ghanaian football as fans anxiously hope for a revival of the Black Stars’ glory days.

In another video shared by UTV on November 18, 2024, Prophet Kumchacha was seen pouring libation while holding a bottle of alcohol and dressed in all black. He invoked curses upon pastors whom he accused of misappropriating national funds. Furthermore, he warned that anyone attempting to reverse the curses he had invoked upon these pastors, who he claims have squandered the $58 million allocated for the National Cathedral, would also face misfortune.
